US firms ask for anti-dumping duties on Russian carbon steel plates

WASHINGTON, Apr 21 (PRIME) -- U.S. steelmakers and exporters have asked the U.S. Department of Commerce to introduce anti-dumping duties on cut-to-length (CTL) carbon steel plates from Russia, the authority said in a statement published in the U.S. Federal Register on Friday.

The Department of Commerce said that producers and exporters that account for a significant share of imports of some CTL carbon steel plates from Russia reached an agreement to eliminate the possibility of sales of the imported plates at less than fair value.

“On March 30, 2023, the domestic interested parties filed a request that Commerce terminate the Agreement and impose an antidumping duty order on imports of CTL plates from the Russian Federation,” the document read.

The authority asked the interested parties for a comment on the request.
